Salam, my name is Ayisha Qazikhel and I am the President of the Sola x Scotland Chapter. I have a Bachelor's degree in Politics, International Relations and Law and I am currently undertaking my LLB Scots & English Law degree. I moved to Scotland in 2009 at the age of 10. I am an active member of the Scottish Afghan community eager to assist in any way I can whether it’s organising Eid functions or assisting with other important matters. I found my passion for law during the refugee crisis, seeing the struggles faced by millions of people and being able to do very little for them encouraged me to enter this field. I am passionate about supporting refugees and I hope to continue this after completing my studies. As the President of this chapter, I will ensure our aims and goals are successfully implemented.

My name is Mariam Stanikzai and I am the secretary and interim treasurer of Sola x Scoland. I arrived in Glasgow with my family in 2001 as a refugee. Although the Afghan community was small in the early 2000s, we were a tight knit group. Naturally all the adults became my kakas and khalas whilst the kids became my cousins. My community was integral in instilling my strong Afghan identity and I’ll always treasure the experiences of mehmonis, eid parties and nowruz during my childhood. Despite this, my community faced many struggles which continue to this day. This has encouraged me to be part of an initiative which prioritises the growth of our diaspora. As secretary and interim treasurer, I work closely with the president developing strategic initiatives, implementing our organisational goals and overseeing our financial affairs.
